Big thanks to the Concrete Cabin lads for soundtracking the last party — the apocalyptic abstractions Mother & Crud brought, in some little way reflected the bleakness developing outside the club.
For this months party we have revisited one of our favourite ever parties — last year's 'Down by the River', and are delighted to be welcoming back good friend and amazing selector of the first party: DJ SNO
, to help soundtrack the evening with her killer selections of music spanning different styles of music to emerge from across Africa. Anyone that was at the first one will be able to verify the unbelievable atmosphere, and we would love to see any videos if anyone took any through the Partial
SNO aka Selina Nongaliphe Oliphant, grew up in the township of Bophelong in the Vaal, South Africa: and it was here that she first developed her passion for music – finding joy in the records her uncle showed her as a young girl. Since moving and settling in Manchester, she made a quick & resounding impact on the local scene — becoming a dedicated resident for Banana Hill
and supporting the likes of Tony Allen, Amadou & Mariam and DJ Marfox. The past year has been an absolute joy to watch her stock soar, so much so in fact, that this night fell on her only free weekend of the summer — with her bright and breezy selections taking her to beach festivals in Croatia like Dimensions and Soundwave, and across the less glistening UK alike.
All tickets for this one are on the door £3 before 12 followed by £5 after – get yourself down early to enjoy the night of summery selections and save yourself some snout tokens too.
