We often thank those who work in our local pubs and late night stores for the services they provide but rarely think about the dangers they could face for working at those hours. So in association with Get Back we bring you a special charity show.
Staff working in the service industry are often subjected to verbal and physical abuse. Whilst businesses are able to mitigate this on licensed premises, for many workers the problem doesn't just stop there. Incidents of assault whilst travelling home from shifts, often late at night, are unfortunately very prevalent. Many such incidents go unreported.
Our goal is to make sure that service and hospitality workers are able to get home from their jobs safely and without fear. We aim to do this using various methods such as facilitating ride sharing, organising self defence classes and providing free or subsidised taxis. We are also working on putting together an app intended to coordinate safe transport
We will also be liaising with Police Scotland and Better Than Zero’s Home Safe Campaign to try to work together to solve this problem.
