This talk will be given by Paul Cockshott on the nature of wage labour, followed by a discussion with the audience.
William Paul Cockshott is a Scottish Computer Scientist and Economist, a reader at the University of Glasgow and a socialist organiser. Cockshott has made contributions in many fields from 3D television to medical imaging and economic computability. Cockshott has also published several books, the most notable of which, «Towards a New Socialism», describes the failures and successes of the Soviet Union and how modern information technology could overcome these failures.
We are hosting Paul Cockshott, for a discussion on wages under capitalism, how wage labour is fundamentally exploitative, how wages are distributed under capitalism, and how this effects the wider economy and living conditions for the worker.
