I Land, a Painting on Glass Exhibition.

After my successful exhibition in 2016 at the Savings Bank I couldn’t wait to host another event in this gorgeous venue. I Land, is not just an exhibition, it’s tailored to be a night out, with art, live music, a DJ, and a bar.

The Artwork:
I Land is a collection of glass paintings recently inspired by my trip through the Highlands, and the Scottish Islands. Scotland’s west coast truly is like nowhere else. The mountains, sea, wildlife, crofts, bothies, and the culture and traditions which are very much still alive today. Every time I take a trip out of the city I get this rush of excitement, a sensory overload and a need to come back to paint. Scotland’s natural worl...d, the colours, the skies, it’s ever changing landscape, and long history fascinate me. My paintings will aim to capture some of this glorious beauty and culture. Many of the originals will be framed in whisky barrel wood, adding to the authentic Scottish feel, and making each piece truly unique.

The Music:
Music, like art, can stir the soul and awaken the senses. I’m always inspired by tracks I hear, titles of music, and the general feel that a song gives me. While away I heard lots of traditional Scottish folk music, and I’m an avid attendee of Celtic Connections, where we are spoiled for choice of trad music from around the globe. Traditional Scots music, poetry, and literature are some of the driving forces behind this collection. My paintings are a direct response to what I’ve heard, seen and read during my adventures through the West coast.

The Musicians:
Adam Sutherland, one of Scotland’s top fiddle players and composers, will be leading the music with other guest performers still to be announced. Adam recently released a new album, and I had the pleasure of seeing him perform it while away in Ullapool. Throughout the evening you will hear some of his new music, as well as traditional tracks from the Highlands and Islands. Each song has been specially selected, and every painting will have a song, or poem linked with it.
In the latter half of the evening, it will be time for a boogie, heels off, and a chance to experience dancing under the rotunda ceiling. Our DJ Scott Rowan, my brother from another mother, will be getting you all moving until the early hours.

The Venue:
If you haven’t been to the Savings Bank yet, you’re in for a real treat. This Victorian building has been transformed into an independent venue combining it’s opulent neoclassical style with cutting-edge events management to create the perfect venue for all occasions, such as this. There is a fully licensed bar, and is child friendly until 10pm. The staff are welcoming, and helpful. When you walk in, you will be in awe as the Venue lays claim to some of the most visually striking architectural features in the city.

I’m looking forward to this, and I hope you are too. The event is free, so please help me by sharing my page and event with your friends and family, all are welcome.
