Queen Margaret Union - QMU
22 University Gardens, G12 8QN Glasgow, United Kingdom
The First Tuesday Club is open to all University of Glasgow students and aims to inspire them in their career decisions. Our March event is sure to appeal to students with a social conscious. If you are seeking inspiration to find a way to create positive change in the world or perhaps you are a budding entrepreneur, listening to Alice Thompson, Co-Founder and Director of Social Bite may inspire you to dream big and make a difference.
Alice is the Co-Founder & Director of Social Bite and one of Scotland’s leading entrepreneurs. Her journey to creating Social Bite and the fascinating events that have followed are nothing short of gobsmacking and refreshing. Alice took the idea of Social Business and has used it to transform the lives of the homeless community, addressing many of the social challenges that are traditionally the responsibility of the public services or charities.
Social Bite believes in a Scotland where homelessness is no longer a part of our society. In 5 years Social Bite has went from one small shop and 8 staff to eight units and 100 staff. They went from a simple mission to give the profits away to charity, to employing, feeding and creating a village especially for the homeless.
This is an opportunity to hear a unique story and uncover entrepreneurial spirit entwined with powerful social change.
Free nibbles and refreshments provided.
