As part of our first ever screening, we present Estate, a Reverie (2015), a film forged by community, a spirited celebration of extraordinary everyday humanity. The film was central to Common Ground, Andrea Luka Zimmerman’s first UK solo exhibition, presented at Spike Island from 8 April to 18 June 2017, celebrating strategies of social and cultural resistance and proposed new ways of living together in the face of a threatened idea of the ‘common good'.
Estate, a Reverie asks how we might resist being framed exclusively through class, gender, ability or disability, and even through geography.
The screening will be held at NICE N SLEAZY Sleazy on Tuesday the 27th of March at 7:30pm, with screenings from local film makers beforehand.
After the screening feel free to stick around for very in-formal discussions; whether it’s about the film or to say hi to friends. We will also be welcoming Boosterhooch who will be playing sounds which will continue from the films conclusion.
We encourage donations which will be given to Shelter Scotland, although if you don’t have any money – please, don’t worry about it.
We would like to thank Fugitive Films & Andrea Luka Zimmerman for allowing us to screen this film.
If you require any assistance getting in and out of the venue, or have any specific requests please do not hesitate to get in contact with Essential Viewing.
Thank you to Matthew Walkerdine for creating the lovely poster.
