Join us and some very special guests as we celebrate Joseph Lister and his world-changing medical innovation.
2018 marks 150 years since Lister delivered a public lecture on his theory of antiseptic surgery, in the room that was then the College Faculty Hall. Together with his articles in The Lancet of 1867, this lecture helped revolutionise medical science.
Listermania is an evening of celebration dedicated to Joseph Lister. The event will be hosted by inspirational speaker, Greig Trout, founder of 101 Things To Do When You Survive. Our Artist in Residence, Marianne McRae will be sharing poems inspired by Lister, and Mr Pankaj Chandak, pioneering surgeon, will be discussing how Lister’s work continues to influence today’s surgeons.
We are also delighted to welcome Dr Lindsey Fitzharris, author of The Butchering Art: Joseph Lister’s Quest to Transform the Grisly World of Victorian Medicine, for a special Q&A.
