«The music of Amsterdam-born musician Pitou is characterised by her highly distinctive voice, unique compositions and the use of vocal harmonies as an instrument in themselves, drawing inspiration from sources ranging from Bulgarian choir music to Sparklehorse and Joni Mitchell. Her highly anticipated self-titled debut EP was released last year on Scottish/Dutch label Mink Records and was greeted with national and international critical acclaim.
Pitou's next EP (coming in 2018) will continue Pitou’s development as a songwriter. About the EP Pitou says, „This second EP is going to be quite dark lyric-wise, honestly I think life over all can be quite dark, and I'm looking forward to providing a counterbalance to that for myself. Humour is a wonderful antidote.“
Pitou brings her live show to Glasgow once again at the invitation of Celtic Connections and once more in the intimate surroundings of Broadcast…
“She crafts intelligent folk-pop that balances the darkness and light of human emotion” — Roisin O’Connor, The Independent.»
