This three hour session on a Sunday afternoon is structured to help you go deeper into meditation and experience how things are the more your mind and body settle. Whether you’re an experienced meditator, a complete beginner or somewhere in between, being able to focus solely on your awareness for 3 hours benefits your health, wellbeing and state of mind through letting go of things you were holding onto, both at the time and in the weeks ahead.
Mindfulness is simple and focuses on direct experience therefore there will be four guided meditations. At the same time mindfulness is easy to misunderstand due to the complexity of our minds, so George will give a talk on what we aim to do with our thoughts and feelings, and the most common pitfalls.
The overall aim is to develop calm awareness in all aspects of our life, not just when we sit to meditate, so we will work with a qi gong sequence (body movement, similar to tai chi) to bridge the gap between seated meditation and our busy lives.
Mindfulness by definition is a very personal practice with everyone’s experiences unique so during one of the meditation sessions there will be an opportunity, for everyone who wants to, to speak with George one to one.
