Glasgow’s Helicon have been staples of the UK’s underground scene since they formed back in 2009 and from then they’ve gone on to release eight EPs, tour Europe and share the stage with everyone from the likes of Wooden Shjips, The Warlocks, Dead Skeletons and The Holydrug Couple. Picking up an ever-growing reputation along the way the band released their long-overdue self-titled debut LP on Fuzz Club – produced by Tony Doogan at Mogwai’s Castle Of Doom Studio — on 8th December 2017.
Exploring themes of love and loss, drugs and drink, religion and politics, life and death, Helicon’s new album is a collection of sprawling and expansive Eastern-sounding psych-rock. Psychedelia has always transcended geographical limits and with this in mind, the band explain how the new record aims to explore all psychedelic ley-lines across the globe — from their home-country Scotland to the sitar-led sounds of India whilst nodding equally to both vintage and modern psychedelic motifs
This is Helicon's first and only Scottish show since the album's release and before a UK and European tour in 2018.
