There are various reasons why we protect our built heritage, including safeguarding its intrinsic values, connections to the past and its positive influence on our environment. But does our ability to do so hinge on where that building is located and the socio-economic conditions found there?

Brigit Luffingham will present her Masters dissertation research which focusses on the link between heritage funding and social indicators to establish if there was a link between where a listed building is located and its long term chances of survival.

In the second half of the evening Trust Manager at Govanhill Baths Community Trust, Fatima Uygun, will take us through the ongoing efforts of one of Glasgow’s most deprived and diverse communities to save a historic building and important community asset, and their recent ‘Community Shares’ fundraising campaign.
