a feeling of and, a feeling of if, a feeling of but, a feeling of by, a feeling of blue, a feeling of cold (Edition 2)
An event by LaurenPrinty Currie coinciding with her exhibition her body remembered a night-blooming cereus, sweated industry and salt (what came near) in the Travelling Gallery in partnership with Glasgow Women’s Library.
View the exhibition as The Travelling Gallery returns to Glasgow, stationed at Platform on Monday 4 December 1-7pm. Join the artist for an event, first developed for Cove Park in October 2017 and adapted for a second edition at Platform to mark the end of the Travelling Gallery tour. ’ a feeling of and…‘is a series of readings, acts, exchanges, and felt proximities exploring material existence as something pliant and paradoxical.
Lauren Printy Currie works in sculpture and writing exploring how the intertwinement of language and material can describe and explore meaning in the relationships we have with ourselves and others, environment and technology and how form and material can communicate histories, time and a sense of place. Recent exhibitions and events include ‘If by chance when we are walking, we happen to walk in step’, CCA, Glasgow 2017; ‘Devices, individuals and events’, Pig Rock Bothy, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh 2016; “My word,” she would repeat, poetry readings in the grounds of Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh 2016; ‘mood is made / temperature is taken’ Glasgow Sculpture Studios, Glasgow 2014; ‘read the room / you’ve got to’, SALTS, Basel 2014.
