This one-off Intro to Cross Cuban course starting Wednesday 16th August at 8.30pm at the STUC Building at 333 Woodlands Road.
It is located next door to The Stand Comedy Club.
You can park in the Stand/STUC free car park off the roundabout, off Park Road, as on street parking is chargeable until 10pm- it’s a tight entrance so take care. Ring the buzzer 'STUC NIGHT' to gain access to the building please.

The course lasts 55mins each week and runs for 8 weeks.
Your class time will be every Wednesday at 8.30pm for 8 weeks.

It would be helpful to us if you could turn up 10 minutes early on the first night as registration and collection of payment can take awhile.

The course fee is £40 per person and is payable on the first night. Due to size of the room we have to limit this course to 20 places, so priority will be given to those committing to the course. Once the 20 places are gone, they are gone!

If you could bring the exact amount with you in cash or by cheque that would be a great help.
We cannot accept bank cards, although there is a cashpoint nearby by K.R.K on Woodlands Road.

You do not need a partner and you do not need special clothing either. Normal clothes and comfy shoes will suffice.

Sergio & Patricia will be your teachers for this unique class and we are going to have so much fun getting you started on your cross salsa journey!

If you are a cuban style dancer intrigued by and keen to explore the cross body/LA style then this is for you!
If you are a cross body dancer keen to explore Cuban style salsa to expand your social dance circle then this is definitely for you!
If you are interested in Ladies styling then this is also for you!

In Glasgow, the Cuban Salsa style dominates the scene although there is an energetic wee group of cross body dancers as well.
Cuban and L.A/Cross body style are the main forms in Europe and this course brings you the best of both worlds merged into ONE!
Over the years with travel to and from Cuba becoming more accessible and relaxed we have seen a ‘sharing or crossover ’ of salsa styles occurring as salsa tourists’ moves have been noticed by the locals who have been quick to adopt and adapt them into their own repertoire of moves.. Cuban dancers coming to Europe are taking back LA/Cross body styles to Cuba with them and have incorporated them into their dance style. This merging of styles brings a wow factor to their dancing and has been picked up on by other local dancers and copied and recopied and passed on down the line.
YouTube has helped spread this new style from Cubans to the rest of the world and vice versa which has amounted to a prolific ‘ sharing’ of moves and styles that has never been experienced before ( remember Cuban was effectively shut off to the rest of the world for a long time until recent years).
Sergio And Patricia dance a blend of cross body ( “linea” style as they call it in Spain ) and Cuban salsa. Sergio also throws in some cuban timba and afro-cuban moves into his dancing whilst Patricia brings the elegant arms, undulating body movements and cross body moves into play. The result of this unique and beautiful mix is CROSS CUBAN!

THE COURSE CONTENT: Sergio and Patricia teach at a relaxed pace, creating a fun and friendly environment whilst challenging you at the same time each week.
They will introduce you to some of the cross body and cuban fundamentals before the fun really begins as they mix the two together.
We can’t wait to get started and to form a wee army of Cross- Cuban dancers!
