— What's his weapon?
— Rapier and Dagger
— That's two of his weapons
(Hamlet, V, ii)
Rapier & Dagger are the weapons of the Shakespearean period. Fighting with them requires both «cut and thrust» techniques and being able to use both weapons together and independently. Learning to fight with rapier and dagger therefore gives you the fundamental techniques that can then be applied to other weapons such as 18th century smallsword, broadsword & shield, and swashbuckling. They are the foundation weapons for stage combat.
This intensive six-day course will give you the techniques required to perform effective rapier & dagger fights and at the end of the course students will have the opportunity to take the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat Fight Performance Test.
No previous experience of stage combat required.
