As part of the book tour for her new novel 'You Don't Know Me', Brooke Magnanti returns to deliver a special talk for Glasgow Skeptics: What Will Death Be Like?
— From CSI to The Walking Dead, fiction has always been fascinated with the nuts and bolts of kicking the bucket. But what is the reality of dying, and what do forensic scientists really think of how death and decomposition are portrayed on screen? This talk will look at the grim, the gruesome, and the giggle-worthy attempts of writers and actors to represent the end that comes for us all. Probably best if you don't eat straight beforehand…

Brooke Magnanti is a scientist and author. She is writer of the bestselling Belle de Jour series of books, which were adapted into the hit ITV show «Secret Diary of a Call Girl» starring Billie Piper. She is also the writer of crime thrillers The Turning Tide and You Don't Know Me.

Brooke was born in west central Florida in 1975. She earned a Ph.D. in the Forensic Pathology department there, specialising in human decomposition and postmortem identification. She has worked in forensic science, epidemiology, chemoinformatics and cancer research. Brooke currently lives in rural NW Scotland with her husband.

This is event is free to attend, although we will be asking for donations at the end of the talk. Participants are under no obligation whatsoever to donate, however please rest assured that the money we collect doesn't end up in anyone's pocket — it is used to fund our overhead costs, and travel/accommodation for our speakers who come from further afield.
===
Accessibility: The talk is on the top floor of the store, however there is however a lift available for customers to use.

Note, create events in both in our Facebook Community and our official Facebook page. This is because some members of the Group either haven't 'Liked' our official Page, and vice versa… so don't be worried if you think you're seeing double
