You as a handler will learn how your dog's body moves and how to offer appropriate exercise. During the workshop Sam will explain how best to use these exercises and why specifically for your dog.
What is proprioception training for dogs?
Knowing where you are relative to things around you. How tall, how broad, how long you are.
Why do we need proprioception training?
Through proprioception training we teach our dogs to be aware of their bodies, to develop good motor skills, balance, strength and flexibility. Dogs that are self-aware and have good motor skills also are more self-confident. Through teaching proprioception exercises we can help less confident or anxious dogs to be more confident in themselves and their handlers.
This is not just good for dogs that go into sports but is a basic need for any dog. Proprioception exercises can reduce the risk of injuries and increase fitness for any dog
What does it do?
By implementing proprioception training we influence different things:
— muscle strength
— trust/bond with person
